![]() About the Saturn AuraThe Saturn Aura was a mid-sized sedan that was offered by the Saturn brand of General Motors. The sedan was introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model and remained in production until 2009. The Green Line used a mild hybrid version of the 2.4-liter engine, paired with an electric motor and generator. The Saturn Aura was considered a break from the plastic-bodied cars that epitomized Saturn in the early 1990s. The Aura replaced the Saturn L-Series, a line of mid-sized four-door sedans that were based on the European Opel Vectra. The Aura was still based on the Vectra, but with brand-new styling and better mechanicals than the outgoing L-Series. The Saturn Aura was available in three trims – the XE, XR and Green Line. The XR represented the base version of the Aura and was equipped with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as standard, and the 3.5-liter V6 as an option. The XE was equipped with traction control, dual front and side curtain air bags, automatic headlights and a CD player. The XR represented the top-line version of the Aura. The XR was equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 engine and the 6-speed automatic transmission, which could also be manually shifted by use of paddles located behind the steering wheel. Features included a leather interior, 18-inch alloy wheels and remote vehicle start. Prices for the Aura started out at $22,655 and peaked at $27,250, before destination charges and other added surcharges. Fuel economy for the Aura varied depending on the type of engine used. With the 2.4-liter engine, the Aura could achieve 22 miles per gallon city and 33 miles per gallon highway. The larger 3.5-liter engine fielded slightly worse fuel economy figures, with 18 miles per gallon city and 29 miles per gallon highway. With the 3.6-liter engine, the Aura achieved only 17 miles per gallon city and 26 miles per gallon highway.
