About the Mitsubishi RaiderThe Mitsubishi Raider was a front engine truck with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive marketed by Mitsubishi from 2004 to 2009. While the truck had decent styling and a spacious interior, it wasn't as powerful as its closest competitors and failed to gain serious market share from other mid-sized pickup trucks like the Ford Ranger or the Nissan Frontier. The Raider has a 3.7L V6 that provides 210 horsepower at 5200 RPM and 235 lb ft of torque at 3600 RPM. This engine was paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed automatic was available for both the sing and double cab Raider. Fuel economy was about 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. The Raider could seat three with its extended cab, but a double cab option made it possible to seat six. The four-wheel drive option was only available in the double cab version of the truck. Introduced in 2005, the Raider was based on an SUV model by Dodge and was manufactured in Japan. It featured unique styling and was Mitsubishi's attempt at becoming a competitive player in the mid-sized truck... View more market. However, it didn't differ enough from the Dodge Raider, and in the areas where it was different, it wasn't always for the better. It wasn't as safe of a vehicle and didn't have the power that many pickup truck buyers look for. The Mitsubishi Raider did not come in a long-bed version, which hurt its appeal with North American buyers. It sold poorly in comparison to Mitsubishi's expectations and was discontinued in 2009. Nevertheless, various options and trims made the Mitsubishi Raider a versatile truck in many ways for its owners. The extended cab and double cab versions of the pickup truck were outfitted differently; the double cab version offered a better interior trim, keyless entry, cruise control and fog lights. Options on the extended and double cab included a CD changer, a second row folding seat and a bed liner. While some car reviewers accused the Mitsubishi Raider of stripping down its safety features, it still managed to get a five star rating in front and side crash tests from the NHTSA. Buyers who decided to give the Mitsubishi Raider a try weren't always disappointed at its lack of power and the variety of trim options and packages allowed for a very comfortable interior. The Raider was an easy truck to drive, and while it may not have been a major model for Mitsubishi, it did show their commitment to offering a variety of features and a new emphasis on style for their customers View less Mitsubishi Raider Model Years | |||
