About the Lincoln MKTThe Lincoln MKT is a luxury crossover that combines exceptional performance, enhanced fuel economy, spaciousness and advanced technology. The MKT shares the same platform as the Ford Explorer and Ford Flex. Lincoln offers two seating configurations in the MKT that will accommodate either six or seven passengers across its three rows. With a bold split wing grille that strongly resembles the Lincoln MKS and the MKR concept car, the MKT offers a flowing aerodynamic body design. The MKT crossover is available with two engine choices that accentuate power and fuel efficiency. This includes a 3.7-liter V-6 that delivers 268 horsepower, and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that produces 355 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque without compromising fuel efficiency. The EcoBoost technology includes two turbochargers that engage when RPMs are as low as 1,500. Both engines operate on regular unleaded gas and get an estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway. This level of efficiency is superior to most competitors in the luxury... View more crossover class. The MKT comes equipped with a six speed automatic transmission and steering wheel mounted paddles for manual manipulation of gear shifting. Designed by the Lincoln Product Development team, the MKT was introduced as a concept vehicle in 2008 and placed into production at the Oakville Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada in 2009. While some complained that the production model differed substantially from the concept vehicle, the MKT was targeted toward those who need ample passenger room and significant cargo space. In fact, the MKT provides 17.9 cubic feet of storage when the seats are upright and 75.9 cubic feet of storage with the seats all folded down. The MKT is available in two trim levels. This includes the standard MKT and the MKT with EcoBoost. The vehicle is well appointed with standard equipment such as adaptive xenon lights, keyless ignition, 19-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate and rear parking sensors. Inside amenities like the 12-way heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, eight-inch touchscreen, rearview camera and 10-speaker audio system provide luxury and convenience. An advanced sync system offers voice control for MP3 players and cell phones. The Elite package adds power-folding third row seats, a 14-speaker surround sound system, and a voice operated navigation system. Additional options available with the EcoBoost model include captain's chairs and a second row console and refrigerator. Although the MKT has only been available for two models years, it has already received several distinguished awards. This includes the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award, the Active Network of San Diego's Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year Award, and the Edmunds.com award for Consumer Top Rated Vehicle in 2010 View less | |||
