Although the initial release of the Infiniti QX56 revealed an interior design that many critics described as cheap, the overall vehicle was a success. The 2008 model saw a complete upgrade of the interior materials and a more luxurious feel was achieved. Minor styling changes along the way helped improve the exterior appearance and contributed to the Infiniti QX56's transformation into a high-end vehicle. The 2011 model has been completely redesigned and is now no longer based on a pickup truck chassis, so it is well prepared to compete with the vehicles in its class. With all of the features that come standard on the Infiniti QX56, many vehicles do not have the optional packages that are available. Large alloy wheels, upgraded xenon headlights and a complete camera system are included on every SUV. Handling and appearance packages come with a variety of add-ons, but the most common addition is the active suspension system that helps contribute to the ride quality. Power and Associates has performed their initial quality study on the 2011 model, but did not have enough data to create a reliability rating.
